Q: What is the Planet Beach franchise investigation process? How long does it take?
A: Should you decide to enter the process, you will participate in a series of informative discussions and receive materials along the way that will illustrate the strength and value of the Planet Beach Contempo Spa organization and franchise opportunity.
This 4-6 week process will ultimately culminate in a “Discovery Day” meeting at Planet Beach Spa World Headquarters in New Orleans, LA where we will come to a mutual conclusion about whether or not there is a good fit for you and the company.

Q: What makes a Planet Beach Contempo Spa different from another Day Spa that might already operate in my city?
A: We are able to offer consumers Wellness, Beauty, and Stress Reduction services for as much as 80% less than they would traditionally pay. We are the only spa that offers all of our services as part of an affordable membership that often costs less than what customers would generally spend on a cup of coffee per day.
Q: What are the minimum financial qualifications to become a Planet Beach Contempo Spa franchisee?
A: Financially, a potential Planet Beach Contempo Spa franchisee must have a net worth of at least $225,000 and be (or be able to become) liquid for a minimum of $100,000. If a prospective franchisee meets these qualifications along with having a good credit score and history, Planet Beach can assist in the process of securing financing.

Q: Can I be an absentee owner of a Planet Beach Contempo Spa franchise?
A: Not only can you, but this is our preferred model. A “semi-absentee” owner means that the owner might be working full time “on” the business, but has limited involvement working “in” the business.
Q: How much does a franchise cost?
A: The total investment inclusive of franchise fee, equipment, construction and working capital, etc. will range between $164,450 – $324,979. Q: How much are royalties and advertising contributions?
A: Planet Beach royalty is 6% of the gross sales of the business. The Brand Development Fee is 2% of gross sales, which helps support a number of national advertising campaigns on an annual basis. This includes our Cover Model events and TV show, as well as the creation of ongoing, up to date marketing collateral and locator systems.
Q: How much money can I make as a Planet Beach franchisee?
A: Planet Beach does show this data to candidates who have filled out our Confidential Questionnaire. It is part of our Franchise Disclosure Document in Item 19, “Financial Performance Representation.” As you go through the awarding process you will have an opportunity to analyze our disclosed earnings data.

Q: What size location do you recommend to operate a Planet Beach Contempo Spa?
A: We recommend that you don’t operate a location that is larger than 1,000 SF. We have a pro type floor plan we can provide you. Maximizing square footage is very important to in order to maximize your return on investment.
Q: Does Planet Beach help with financing?
A: Yes. Planet Beach works with a variety of national lenders. After you become a franchisee, Planet Beach will work with you to identify an appropriate lender, provide you with a business plan template and pro forma template and guide you through filling out related materials necessary to be approved for your loan.
Q: How many employees will I need?
A: A typical spa will have a Spa Director and approximately 2 to 3 Part Time Spa Consultants. A spa may also hire an Assistant Spa Director, however, this is not necessary until a spa has the volume necessary for the need for additional management.
Q: What are the hours of operation?
A: Our Spa’s are open 7 days a week. Typically Spas are open between 9 am – 9 pm Monday – Thursday. On Friday typical hours are 9 am – 7pm. Weekend hours are typically 11 am – 4 pm.
Q: What about marketing? Does Planet Beach help?
A: Planet Beach Marketing programs include-
- Strong Brand Awareness and branding formula to differentiate ourselves from any potential competitors.
- Local programs, which the franchisees utilize to build and develop awareness and loyalty with current customer base.
- Regional and cooperative advertising, where Planet Beach franchisees get together with other franchisees and leverage their strength in numbers.
- National programs that are conducted by the Planet Beach including a nationally syndicated TV show.
Q: How long does it take to get a Planet Beach Spa open?
A: Once a franchise agreement is signed, the typical time needed to get a center open is approximately 6-7 months. The actual build out process happens fairly quickly most of the time. Much of the timeframe that it takes is for real estate to be identified. In the case of a newly constructed shopping center, the timeframe could be longer and in some cases it could be much sooner.
